HISTORY
Gospel Pentecostal Center Church of God in Christ was organized on March 4, 2007. The church became incorporated on May 14, 2007. On September 12, 2007, Elder Otis Williams was appointed pastor by Bishop Ocie Booker, Prelate of 1st Jurisdiction - Illinois. Despite adversity and no financial means, GPC began its church services at the Youth Annex at Liberty Temple C.O.G.I.C., where the Administrative Assistant Superintendent Robert L. East is the pastor. We rented this facility for three years to save enough money to purchase a church of our own. Under the leadership of Pastor Otis Williams, God blessed us to purchase a church located at 539 West 120th Street on February 29, 2010. The church held its first service on March 7, 2010. We are truly blessed to have Pastor Williams because after one year of moving into our church, GPC purchased the adjacent vacant land to create a parking lot! God has truly blessed us and we have faith that we will gain the finances to complete the project. The Lord saw fit to increase us in souls, land and presence in the neighborhood.
Our church strives to be a beacon of light in this West Pullman Community. We participate in neighborhood evangelism where we walk throughout the neighborhood ministering and encouraging the residents. We hosted a coat and blanket drive with our district. GPC’s Christian Women’s Council partnered with a family shelter to provide encouragement and resources. We also reached out to a neighborhood public school where we hosted an activity and fed the students. Our theme is “A New Beginning – Reaffirm the Past, Capture the Present, and Propel the Future through a Progressive Christ Centered Ministry”. GPC has Moved ..., Now What? More Power! More Praise! More Prayer! More Worship! More Ministry! and More Souls!
